No grids allowed! You can build wherever you want, design your village however you like, and increase your Vikings’ happiness. These latter two warrior types are unique to the Vikings. They can be anything from normal warriors (light warriors, like archers) to mighty berserkers or shield maiden elites. Your villagers need to be trained to raid. Train and strengthen your Vikings to ensure your victory. Raid foreign villages to plunder their silver and gold, and gain Fame points. You can also send out your own trade missions, as long as you have enough villagers to crew the vessel – and enough beer to fuel the crew! Any good Jarl knows that force is the best path to glory. Once you build a Trade Dock, ships will visit you with different cargo. Your neighbors are an excellent resource of goods and gold. Prepare firewood and food stores to keep your Vikings warm and fed! Be ready for storms, blizzards, and the long, deadly cold of winter. The seasons bring their own challenges, as do events and disasters. Band together and withstand these disasters as best you can. This land will bring many challenges to your settlement, from earthquakes to fire-starting lightning from the heavens above. Over time, your Vikings will begin new families and give birth to new generations, extending their lineage and strengthening your village. You can choose to welcome them or turn them away. More Vikings will ask to join your settlement as it grows. Not all Vikings are alike, nor are they equally good at all jobs! Pay attention to skills and abilities when assigning your people to a task. With more than 20 characteristics, your villagers might be powerfully-built strongmen and women, or silver-tongued thespians. Each of your villagers is a character in their own right. From victuals to Vikings, manage your resources carefully to ensure you survive the harsh winter, and expand your settlement season to season. La précédente démo du jeu, dont vous pouvez voir des extraits du gameplay dans la vidéo ci-dessous, n’est plus disponible pour le moment. La phase bêta devrait permettre d’améliorer différents mécanismes du jeu ainsi que d’ajouter plus de contenu (ex : plus de cartes, traduction de l’interface, meilleur système pour les batailles, etc.). Un des objectif du studio étant d’offrir un jeu dixit relaxant, et s’inspirant en partie de la logique de Frostpunk, pour l’aspect survie, et de celle de Rimworld pour la gestion des villageois. On notera que le jeu intégrant des aspects surnaturels, il ne prétend donc pas être basé sur l’Histoire des vikings. Et représente vraisemblablement deux ans de travail de la part des développeurs. Le tout semble offrir une belle palette de possibilités ludiques sur le thème de la culture et de la mythologie des vikings. Le jeu propose de gérer assez finement la population, vous confronte aux intempéries et à des événements tels un tremblement de terre, permet de gérer le commerce et de lancer des raids ou encore propose différents développements technologiques à débloquer. Une nouvelle bande-annonce a été mise en ligne hier pour accompagner la confirmation du début de la bêta, façon Accès anticipé, de ce joli jeu dans lequel on s’évertuera à développer à partir de presque rien une grande cité viking.
